2007 style ***
Hello all,
Just a very-short-notice reminder that once again the regular PLUG
seminar is coming up next Tuesday, the 8th of January 2008. This month
we have Adrian Chadd talking on "Awesome Tools for Document
Authoring". Rumors that we are going to rename PLUG to the "Adrian
Chadd Seminar Series Foundation" are strictly untrue.
Those with long memories will remember that we held the PLUG AGM in
this slot last year - we ran out of time to call it for January so we
plan to run it in next month's seminar slot. A notice should be coming
out shortly.
Title: "Web Content Delivery, 2007 style"
When: Tuesday, 8th January 2008, 7:30pm - 9:00pm.
Where: 'Futuresphere', Christ Church Grammar School, Queenslea Drive, Claremont
Presenter: Adrian Chadd
Adrian will be talking about websites - how they work, get delivered
to your machine and the challenges involved in caching them. He will
also discuss some popular web applications, including Youtube and
Google Maps, and present the challenges involved in caching these in a
way that is transparent to the end user.
Adrian Chadd runs a consulting and hosting business, specialising in
Squid and Xen hosting. He also develops for Squid, the open-source
HTTP caching proxy project.
We will be ordering pizza for consumption when the talk is over, and
possibly adjourning to a nearby pub for general discussion and drinks
after the presentation. A gold-coin donation will be requested to
cover the costs of the pizza.
As usual, visitors and friends are most welcome.
